International seminar in Portugal – OVAR/ PORTO / AVINTES 03 – 10 october 2010

Keric was one of the participants of of the seminar in Portugal - Lenka and Nilmar actively presented and discussed during the international seminar "From poverty to welfare"m which is part of the program from Youth in Action and took place within European year of the fight against the poverty and social exclusion.


A lot of people in Europe live in lack without possibility of access to basic services. Nearly 80 milions of Europeans live under the treshold of poverty, what is in conflict with the principals of EU about solidarity and social rightness. For strenghten of commitment of EU to reach definitive effect for removal of poverty, European commision declared the year 2010 as European year of the fight against poverty and social exclusion.

Training for ex-volunteers

From 10th to 14th of October many people from Čadca could wonder, when Thea, Anabelen, Sarah or other volunteers, who worked here during last years, met in Čadca again. Thanks to the support of program "Youth in Action" we had the opportunity to organize training for ex-volunteers and invited them back to Slovakia. So we met to change in return our experience from the job in KERIC, in Čadca, at schools.


Moreover we created promotional material about the program and about KERIC. The training was really useful for other direction of KERIC, for other personal and professional life of participants, but it was very greatful meeting of friends. Last common evening participants of training spent with new KERIC team and also with people from community in Čadca who were invited and it was very pleasure to see how KERIC community is expanding.

Educational visit from Finland

From 30th September to 3rd of October, we hosted representatives of Finnish organizations who wanted to get to know as much as possible about our experience with project European voluntary service in KERIC. During these days they visited also our partner organizations KcA in Trenčín and CVČ in Stará Bystrica. Within the recognition of Slovak culture they visited also the open-air museum in Vychylovka. Definitely the main point of the program was to discuss as much as possible and experience the reality of voluntary life. The result of the meeting is that in future we definitely plan to host volunteers from Finland and also we will send there our young people.

International conference GLOBAL FOOTSTEP 12

Global FOOTSTEP, KERIC, Museum of Kysuce and Cultural house in Čadca organized international conference


Global Footstep 12: LINKING FOR CHANGE
Čadca, 16.8. – 20.8. 2010

The main topic of worldwide environmental conference  Footstep 12 was social, economic and environmental permanent sustainability. The preferred objective of the conference was INSERTION of communities, TO BE ACTIVE, TO NOTICE, TO EDUCATE and TO DEAL within the economic norms.

The project Global Footstep builded a network of connected communities from various countries within 25 years: Cheltenham (Great Britain); Kisumu (Kenya); Trabzon (Turkey); Gottingen (Germany); Toruň (Poland); Saint Ann Parish (Jamaica); Râmnicu Vâlcea (Romania).


Main goals:

1. Connection of the projects Community Capacity Building within the worldwide network Footsteps

2. To get to know with culture and geography of North Slovakia

3. To get to know with problematics of permanent sustainability

4.  Deeper understanding of permanent sustainability as an appeal, possibility and reality.

The conference was focused on exchange of experience, appraisal of philosophy of progress of relevant prezented projects, creation of new partnerships through informal indoor and outdoor activities.

International seminar about EVS (2)

From 12th to 16th of November, we will greet people from Germany, Denmark, Latvia, Italy, Great Britain, Czech Republic and Slovakia in KERIC. During the seminar we will discuss within the topic European voluntary service about how to get higher quality of voluntary projects and expand them to new countries of the world and so we could provide this opportunity of personal development as much as possible to the young people in Slovakia.
